Every woman will go through menopause. It is a fact of life. According to the Mayo Clinic, the average age of menopause is at age 51. Before and after menopause, almost half of women report having difficulty with sexual arousal. This includes having vaginal dryness, thinning of the lining of the vagina, incontinence, and her vagina losing its flexibility. Other symptoms of menopause includes mood swings, decreased interest in sex, hot flashes, night sweats, and sleeping problems. When women experience vaginal dryness, sexual intercourse can be painful. Because of this, either or both partners may avoid sexual activity, thus affecting the relationship or marriage.
If you experience the above symptoms, consider using a water based lubricant during sexual intercourse to increase the lubrication. Proper lubrication will make sexual intercourse for comfortable and enjoyable for both partners. You can also reduce other symptoms of menopause by regular exercising, doing relaxing techniques such as yoga or meditation, and remaining sexually active. Regular exercise improves your blood flow, and improves the quality of blood vessels, which thus improves natural lubrication and vaginal tissues. It is understandable to feel frustrated if you are going through menopause or are postmenopausal. For the female, you may feel less attractive or avoid intimacy with your partner. It is important to know that you are not alone, and that this is a natural part of life. Know that there is nothing wrong with you, and that your sexual life can continue. Plus, there are different products that can be used to keep you sexually active and increase your sexual arousal.
Increase the strength of your vaginal and pelvic muscles by using kegal exercisers. This can help to firm up the vaginal canal which will help against incontinence (urine leakage.) Plus doing kegal exercises can improve sexual arousal. Another product that can use to stimulate sexual arousal is the use of vibrators. During menopause, sometimes it becomes more difficult to become sexually stimulated. Therefore, the use of a vibrator can help you to become more sexually aroused. Choose a vibrator that has multiple speeds so you can become comfortable with the level of stimulation. If you are in a relationship, incorporating a vibrator with your partner can also be quite enjoyable and add excitement to foreplay.
